Platanista, the beautiful village that dominates the Madaris-Papoutsa mountain range, in the area of Pitsilia, maintains one of the most beloved summer traditions of Cyprus: the Celebration of Kerasi.
This is one of the longest-lived celebrations of the island, as it has been organized for 46 years by the Association "Achilleas Platanistas", attracting visitors from all over Cyprus every June.
The festival gives visitors the opportunity to get to know the picturesque village, to tour its remarkable sights, among them the historic Temple of the Holy Cross of Agiasmati, and of course to enjoy the juicy, freshly cut cherries of the area.
At the center of the evening are sweet creations starring cherry: pastes, traditional sweets and many more delicacies that highlight the favorite fruit of summer.
This year's Kerasis Festival in Platanistasa will take place on Saturday 20 June 2026, at 20:30, in the village square.
