On 10 June, Film Week will begin at Nicosia Municipal Theatre. This afternoon a special screening will be held for young audiences, with the Chinese animated film "Boonie Bears: The Hidden Protector".
In the evening the Opening Ceremony of Chinese Film Week in Cyprus will follow, which will gather distinguished guests from the political, business, academic, cultural and artistic world, as well as members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of the Chinese community in Cyprus.
On the same night, the premiere of the film "The Sound of Shanghai", directed by talented Cypriot artist Marios Ioannis Elias, will be presented. The film creatively combines music with intangible cultural heritage, presenting Shanghai's urban landscape and highlighting the unique charm of coupling Chinese tradition with modern times.
The Nicosia Municipal Theatre will also create a space of experience with Chinese and Cypriot culture, with the support of the Confucius Institute of the University of Cyprus.
On 11 June, the film "A Table for Two" will be shown at the Pantheon Theatre in Nicosia. Through stories of urban gastronomy and young people's lives, the film warmly captures the feelings and personal maturation of modern Chinese youth.
On June 12, the animated film "I Am What I Am" will be shown at the Cyprus University of Technology, with the support of the Confucius Institute of TEPAK. Under the traditional Chinese lion dance culture, the film tells the story of simple young people chasing their dreams. That same night, the Cantonese comedy "Night King" will be featured at the Pantheon Theatre, presenting Hong Kong's humor and urban culture.
On June 13, the public will enjoy the action thriller "The Shadow's Edge", which combines elements of technologically advanced crime and police pursuit, with intense psychological confrontations between authorities and criminals.
On June 14, the modern drama “It’s OK”, which, with humor and warmth, explores the relationships between generations and the personal course of the woman.
On June 15, the Closing Ceremony will be held at K-Cineplex in Nicosia, followed by the screening of the film "Blades of the Guardians: Wind Rises in the Desert", an action film that takes place in the ancient Western Areas of China, combining martial arts, history and adventure. Representatives of the Chinese Film Authority, Chinese film production and distribution companies, as well as the director and protagonists of the participating films, will attend the closing events and chat with the public.
Most screenings during Film Week will be free and open to the public, while a limited number of screenings will take place on invitation. All films will be shown in their original language with Greek and English subtitles.
Cultures flourish through diversity, thrive through exchanges and progress through mutual learning. Let us use cinema as a communication bridge, strengthening mutual understanding and building an even brighter future for China-Cyprus relations.
