The concert in Cyprus promises an atmospheric experience, where music, the Mediterranean sunset and the imposing energy of the ancient theatre will meet on an evening of high aesthetics
One of the most important cellists of the contemporary international music scene, Luca Soulić, comes to Cyprus for a unique concert at the Ancient Theatre of Curiou, on Sunday, June 14, as part of the worldwide tour of the "LIFE Tour".
Luka Šulić became known worldwide as a member of the 2CELLOS, the Croatian duet with Hauser who radically changed the way the public perceives the cello. World success came in 2011, when their adaptation to Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" became viral on YouTube, paving the way for an impressive international course. Since then, 2CELLOS appeared in the world's largest arenas and concert venues, worked with Elton John and proved that the cello may have the intensity and energy of an electric guitar.
The concert in Cyprus promises an atmospheric experience, where music, the Mediterranean sunset and the imposing energy of ancient theatre will meet on an evening of high aesthetics. The idyllic space of Curios, overlooking the sea and its unique acoustics, is an ideal setting for the music universe of Luca Sulic, which moves between classical music, rock, film sound and modern orchestral creation.
After completing the cycle of 2CELLOS in 2022, Croatian-Slovenian descent Luca Sulic focused on his solo creative course, presenting a more personal and internal artistic universe. The fruit of this new period is the album "LIFE", his first personal work as a composer and arranger.
"LIFE", released by Platoon label, was recorded with Czech Studio Orchestra under the direction of Jan Chalupetti and is characterized by a film atmosphere, rich orchestrations and intense emotional charge. The album's compositions draw inspiration from nature, family, memory and experiences of life, turning the cello into a narrative medium of personal stories.
In Curio, the audience will have the opportunity to listen to live works from "LIFE", such as Shine, Noir, Blue Heart, Pain, Dreamer, Blossom, Anima, Phoenix and Eternal, but also characteristic covers that marked the course of Sulic. Among them the "Nothing Else Matters", "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "We Are the Champions" (Queen), Beethoven's famous "Sonata of Moonlight" combined with One, the skillful "Csárdás", as well as "Winter" and "Summer" from Vivaldi's "Four Seasons".
The LIFE Tour has already experienced great success internationally, with performances in Ljubljana, Tokyo, Kyoto, Nagoya, Sendai, Vienna, Milan, Barcelona, London and Paris, and followed a great tour of North America with stations including in New York, Toronto, Montreal, Boston and Washington. The Cypriot concert is part of this international route that brings Lukas Soulić to historical venues and important music scenes around the world.
Even before the worldwide success of 2CELLOS, Luka Sulic had already distinguished himself in the field of classical music, posting top awards in international competitions. Among them the First Prize and Special Award at the Lutoslavsky International Celiston Competition in Warsaw, the First Prize in the European Radio Television Association competition and the Patron’s Award of the Royal Academy of Music at Wigmore Hall. For his contribution to Croatia's culture and international promotion he was awarded the national Danish Hrvatska medal.
In parallel with his crossover course, Luka Sulic maintains a close relationship with the classic repertoire. Vivaldi's album "Four Seasons" (Sony Classical, 2019) reached No. 1 of the classic albums on..
