The Spartan comedy of Eleni Radou, Sarah Ganotis and Nikos Stavrakoudis “My Convict” this summer in Cyprus
What common fate connects an alien burglar, a philologist of the Greek language on the verge of separation, an elderly professor of Greek history with dementia and a freshly preserved Balkaniki who wants to enjoy his freedom? All the above confused in a colorful gait of interdependencies and fears, try to love and be loved again, touch and trust. A modern, sharp comedy with intense rhythms and twists, that cauterizes everything that makes us and we fear, whatever makes us strangers with ourselves.
The theatre audience of Cyprus will have the opportunity to enjoy the Spartan comedy of Eleni Radou, Sarah Ganoti and Nikos Stavrakoudis “My Convict” with an impressive troupe of talented and beloved actors with the directing look of Eleni Radou herself.
Sixteen years after his first ascent to the DIANA Theatre in Athens in 2010 and after three years sold out performances across Greece, MY DEVICE comes to Cyprus to make us laugh and also to thrill us. It is no coincidence that he has been awarded the "Carolos Koun" Greek Dramatry Award in 2012 and that he has aroused the interest of the National Theatre of England
A few words about the work: An alien burglar, an accident that will work as a catalyst for events, a newly divided philologist with the right use of Greek, an elderly professor with dementia, a former track champion who tries to find new meaning in his life, a man of the night who revises everything and a Russian liar in a stormy comedy full of emotion and laughter that makes us think and realize how "our" or not is the man we have next to us.
A show of deep human, moving jokes that is getting more and more modern! A work dealing with our fears and insecurities that deeply moved many hundreds of thousands of spectators in Greece. My convict! The materials of the show? love, honesty, absolute availability and generosity. Two hours of scathing glance around us, two hours of truth and film flow that at some point you forget if you're watching theatre or cinema. Nearby footage within our souls, our dark sides, our need for exclusivity, our desire not to become "no one" and "nothing". The word “fear” is heard by all heroes in all tones and colors. "We don't run over mister people," says a stranger. "The same moon we all see," says the oldest of the troupe, professor of history in Panteion who now, symbolically, suffers from Alzheimer's, and an analysis of what can deprive an alpha withdrawal from a philologist, make us ask ourselves not where we arrived as people but how we got here. A testimony of a soul that finds the way to the souls of the public in a redeeming manner!
